Unconditional Love. This was the topic of the small talk we had during cathechism class today. I try to listen, really i do try my best. But some people are just not the sort that can catch my attention. I prefer humorous and younger speakers because i have the general impression that they can relate to us, teenagers. I admit to turning off the moment i see a middle-age person, to an elderly of course, as the speaker!
Back to the topic now, unconditional love? I guess the most obvious definition that anyone could give is ' one that has no limits nor conditions '. I, however, define it as the kind of love that only God is able to give or provide, whatever. You get what i mean. Many of us love people that maybe appeal to us in a physical way [i.e. appearance] or in terms of character. But God loves us in every way. We, humans, like to see other people's faults and maybe hate or dislike a person for it.
In a way, we make up standards that a person must be able to live up too before we love him or her. Like maybe a boyfriend. Some girls say that for a guy to be her boyfriend, he must be about this height, this smart, this wealthy, this cute etc. And some boys may say that for a girl to be his girlfriend, she must be about this wealthy, this intelligent, gorgeous etc. No one can deny not making this kind of standards, in fact we do this for almost everything.
The question is, does God do this? Does he make this kind of conditions and standards for us to live up too, to be loved by him? Well, if so, then most likely i wouldn't be loved by God because i am not pretty, nor am i wealthy, nor am i intelligent! But sometimes i can feel God's love and presence and i know that he does love me despite my many faults and weaknesses.
He is the only one in the whole universe that is able to give us unconditional love. Even parents are not able to give us that. I readily say that
God is the ONLY one that gives each and every one of us unconditional love. No one can argue with this statement, can you? If you do not agree on this statement, do you have proof or evidence? Because i am very sure that the statement is true.
