I know that blogging about this topic is kind of late? But i just watched the Oprah Winfrey show yesterday night and was shocked at how little information the media provides. Oprah had personally gone down the New Orleans and cities hit by hurrican Katrina to donate food, water and daily neccessities. Many other artistes and celebrities went to offer their service to help those in need as well. I remember one part of the show where Oprah had been encouraged not to go into this giant place where all the hurricane survivors are being confined in? She was persuaded actually, but she still decided that she needed to go in. And so she did. According to her, the stench was unbearable and one would feel like vomitting the moment the doors are opened. Corpses were strewned everywhere and waste are left to pile up. Its a no wonder where the stench was unbearable! People were seperated from their loved ones and have no where to sleep.
The international airport has now become a hospital to treat the injured and dying. Many victims wait for days before treated and the extremely sick ones are left in the morgue to die in peace. Its really very inhumane to put a live person in a morgue no matter how sick one may be. But oh wells, I can't protest or anything. I have to accept the fact that many others, who's lives can be saved, need to be saved, instead of spending precious medicines and time on a victim who have little chances of surviving. But think about it, would you like to be put in a morgue so that you can die in peace or would you like to at least give it a shot at the wide array of medicines we currently have? Let's pray for this people, everyone of you out there!
To the hurricane Katrina victims and survivors : We have not forgotten nor 'abandoned' you but we are keeping you all in our prayers, praying that this would all be over soon and that the God Almighty is protecting each and every one of you to be safe and to have the strength and courage to continue living on. Bless you.
