There's this secondary 3 girl from Saint Francis Xavious church that somehow thinks she is the centre of the universe from what i have heard, or been told rather. Seems like she and her mother are being overbearing people, making up decisions about the youth group all by themselves and even done the proposal! I do admire her for one thing, which is her initiative to do the proposal but i disagree on other things she has done.
1)She should have first and foremost, discussed with the other secondary3s who are keen on helping or joining the youth group for their opinions on her ideas and not assume that everyone agrees.
2) She should have not planned everything by herself with encouragement from her mother, but ask nicely if everyone could turn up for a meeting before finalising plans.
3) She should not have set a direction in which the youth group so called aims to achieve or to advance in by herself
Consequence of her actions?
1) Many are turned off by her rude and selfish behavious
2)Others do not like the direction in which the youth group so called seeks to achieve or advance in.
3) She has indirectly pronounced herself the leader of the youth group when she was not the person who suggested it
4) Many people are feeling irritated and annoyed, especially the ones who were enthusiastic at the beginning.
Conclusion?
The youth group might not work out even for a short period of time, cliques may form and maybe even different levels of equality in the youth group. This would not be nice, would it? Anyway, i guess asking God for help is the only thing those are unhappy with her behaviour can do. =)
There is a lesson in which i think i can learn from this. Teamwork is important and affects the outcome of a situation. From this case, I realise that by shoving other people's opinions aside and assuming the leadership position as a dictator is only going to lead to failure. By being an overbearing person, many people in the team would be begin to hate you and loathe your presence. This may also cause the team to break up and all plans to fall apart. One has to learn to listen to others opinions and negotiate or compromise in a team, and assuming the leadership position is not wrong, but do not be a dictator sort of leader. It annoys everyone.
So now i know that from now on if i ever do group work, i would try my best not to be this bossy and self-centred person! =)
[did i make any sense or was it all just crap? =X ]
